Data was collected through a 10-item Likert scale questionnaire assessing podcast utilization frequency and perceived benefits, complemented by participants' final test scores from their "Academic Listening and Speaking" course. While the quantitative analysis revealed a weak positive correlation (r=0.20), indicating no statistically significant relationship between mobile audio-podcast use and listening comprehension improvement, participants consistently perceived podcasts as helpful, interesting, and enjoyable for practicing their listening skills. These findings suggest that despite the lack of a strong direct statistical link to measured comprehension gains in this correlational design, mobile audio-podcasts hold significant motivational value and user-friendliness. They can effectively foster learner's autonomy and provide authentic English exposure, making them valuable supplementary tools for pre-service teacher education programs, though further experimental research is recommended to explore their specific impact on listening skill development.
2025-03-16T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 International Journal of Education and Sosiotechnology (IJES) https://journal.kapin.org/index.php/IJES/article/view/113 THE INFLUENCE OF SOCIAL MEDIA ON SELF-PERCEPTION 2025-06-29T14:05:12+00:00 Syarifuddin syarifuddin.stiq@gmail.com Aisiah Nisa aisiah1994@gmail.com Noor Afifah Zahra noorafifahzahra260@gmail.com Muliani mulianihaleke@gmail.com
In today's digital era, social media has become a dominant force that not only facilitates communication but also significantly influences individual self-perception. This study explores how the widespread use of social media platforms—such as Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and WhatsApp—affects the way individuals view themselves, particularly through processes of social comparison, identity construction, and exposure to curated online content. Utilizing a qualitative method with a library research approach, this paper analyzes various theoretical frameworks, including the Uses and Gratifications Theory and the Technology Acceptance Model, to understand user behavior and the psychological implications of digital engagement. The findings indicate that external digital stimuli can impact both the cognitive and emotional dimensions of self-perception, often creating tension between real and virtual identities. Furthermore, the study emphasizes the critical role of digital literacy in fostering mindful and responsible media consumption. As social media continues to evolve, enhancing digital competence is essential to mitigate its negative effects on self-perception and to promote psychological well-being in the digital age.
2025-03-17T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 International Journal of Education and Sosiotechnology (IJES) https://journal.kapin.org/index.php/IJES/article/view/108 THE PERCEPTION OF GRAMMARLY AMONG PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS IN SCIENTIFIC WRITING CLASS 2025-06-15T07:52:25+00:00 Suciana Wijirahayu sucianawijirahayu@uhamka.ac.id Try Suheri trysuherieffendi385@gmail.com Neti Hartati netimpd88@gmail.com
Media plays a crucial role in facilitating effective learning by capturing and maintaining student attention. Grammarly, a readily accessible tool, can be particularly beneficial for students, especially in developing their writing skills. This study, therefore, aimed to investigate students' perceptions regarding the utilization of Grammarly in writing instruction. We employed a mixed-methods research design, collecting data through both questionnaires and interviews. The questionnaires allowed for a broad quantitative overview of student opinions, while the follow-up interviews provided richer, qualitative insights into their experiences, challenges, and perceived benefits of using Grammarly. A total of 23 students enrolled in the Scientific Writing course at a private university in East Jakarta participated in the questionnaire survey.
2025-03-18T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 International Journal of Education and Sosiotechnology (IJES) https://journal.kapin.org/index.php/IJES/article/view/116 THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING ARABIC ANIMATED VIDEO MEDIA ON STUDENTS ' MUFRADĀT ABILITY AT MTs BINAUL MUHAJIRIN 2025-07-31T01:35:16+00:00 muhammad Iqbal iqbalhaja22@gmail.com Norma nurma2000vi@gmail.com
This research is motivated by the low mastery of mufradāt among students due to the lack of use of interesting learning models and media, plus the background of students who generally have never studied Arabic in elementary school.
